Experience Authentic Western Music and Cowboy Poetry
The annual Grand Encampment Cowboy Gathering
The Grand Encampment Cowboy Gathering is truly a unique event organized by ranchers, musicians, poets and writers living in the area as a way to help preserve and promote ranching, agriculture and the cowboy culture and lifestyle. The Grand Encampment Cowboy Gathering is held the third full weekend in July.
The fun kicks off Friday evenings with an open mic cowboy music and poetry sessions culminating in a campfire jam session held at dusk.
Dress warm and bring a blanket or folding chair - then kickback and watch the show. Audience participation is encouraged so if you play an instrument or have a song, poem or story you want to share bring it along too!
Saturday's events include the famous (and delicious) dutch oven demonstration at Grand View Park, Grand Encampment Museum tours, and a full day of Western entertainment. The Encampment-Riverside Lions Club will serve lunch at the Park followed by the Western Entertainment Roundup featuring cowboy poetry and music. Saturday evening's All Star Cowboy Poetry and Music Show features favorite cowboy and cowgal poets and musicians beginning at 7 pm at the Encampment School Gym.
The festivities continue on Sunday with the Cowboy Ranch Breakfast at Grand View Park, featuring biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and sausage, and cowboy coffee. Cowboy Church starts at 10 am at the Park (bring a chair). During the day tour the Grand Encampment Museum.
